Heihe Chemical Liquid Transfer Project

A chemical and new materials producer in Heihe needed to move a hazardous process liquid between production units. The fluid made leakage unacceptable rather than merely undesirable: any escape to atmosphere was a safety exposure for operators and an environmental event for the plant. The existing sealed pumps on similar duties had a service history of seal wear, seal replacement, and the cleanup work that follows each weep and drip. The plant asked YFTEL for a pump with no leak path to manage.

The Duty

The hydraulic requirement was ordinary: steady transfer at moderate flow and head, on a continuous production schedule. The constraint was containment. The fluid is hazardous on contact and regulated on release, so every shaft seal on a conventional pump is a wear part that eventually leaks, and every leak carries reporting, cleanup, and exposure consequences. The northern location added a second practical demand: equipment that runs reliably through long cold winters with minimal outdoor maintenance attention.

The Solution

YFTEL supplied a CQB65-50-160 magnetic drive pump. The CQB design has no shaft seal at all: an outer magnet carrier on the motor shaft drives an inner magnet carrier on the impeller shaft through a sealed containment shell, so the process fluid stays entirely inside a static, fully enclosed pressure boundary. There is no dynamic seal to wear, no seal flush to manage, and no leak path to monitor. The wetted components are built in corrosion-resistant fluoroplastic alloy with silicon carbide internal bearings, covering a working medium temperature range of -20 to 100 degrees Celsius, and the absence of a seal removes the most maintenance-intensive element of an outdoor installation.

Why Sealless Fit This Service

For hazardous fluids, the economics of a magnetic drive pump run opposite to a sealed pump: the purchase price is higher, and every year after that is cheaper. There are no seal replacements on the maintenance schedule, no leak cleanups, no seal-related downtime, and no exposure incidents to investigate. On a hazardous duty, every dynamic seal leaks eventually; the only variable is the service interval, and removing the seal removes the leak path entirely. That is the calculation this plant made, and it is the calculation most hazardous transfer duties arrive at once seal maintenance history is honestly costed.

The Result

The pump was installed, commissioned, and put into continuous transfer service between the production units. The seal maintenance line disappeared from the maintenance plan, and with it the leak events that had punctuated the previous installation's service record.

YFTEL supplies CQB magnetic drive pumps for hazardous and corrosive transfer duties where leakage is not acceptable. Send us your fluid, duty point, and site conditions, and our engineers will confirm the model and coupling rating.
